This is the first season that Lake Forest Baseball Association ran a fall baseball team, and it was a great success. The team had a roster of 13 players, and practiced on Mondays, and Fridays at Everett Park. They played in the Mundelein Fall League, which hosted games at Community Park. The team played a total of 5 weeks, with doubleheaders each Saturday. Regular season play concluded on Sept 26, and the Scouts finished the season as the #3 seed, with a 6-4 record. The season started with a double header sweep of Warren, a split series against the Gurnee All-Stars and Lake County Lightning, and two tough losses to Grayslake Coyotes, and a sweep of CC Baseball.
In the first round of the playoffs the Scouts came out ready to play, coasting to a 16-1 win, in 2.5 innings. The Scouts laid down 5 successful suicide squeeze bunts in a row to get a huge 13 run rally going. It was a lot of fun to watch. The Scouts got matched up against the #2 seed Mundelein (9-1) in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, things didn’t go our way on a cold, windy day. The Fall Ball Scouts ended the season with a 7-5 record.
Thanks to Charles Wood and Matt Wells for coaching this group of dedicated players. LFBA will look to expand the Fall program in 2016, for 12U, 11U, and 10U players (and potentially outgoing 12U players)
